Ballet Class Safety and Liability

The following guidelines apply to all classes, whether they be on a 1:1 basis (private coaching) or in groups both online and in the studio, all On Demand Classes, Ballet Retreats including Day and Mini Retreats and Master Classes run by Karis Scarlette Ltd.

Before you take part in a ballet class there are certain things that need to be taken into consideration. Your safety and wellbeing during my classes is paramount and I take my responsibility as a ballet teacher seriously. It is therefore important that we have a clear understanding of where the boundaries of that responsibility lie.

During our classes, I will provide instruction reflective of my qualifications and 10 years teaching experience and I shall do so with all reasonable care and skill. However, any instruction, information or guidance I provide is not a substitute for the consultation, diagnosis or medical treatment of your doctor or healthcare provider. You must not rely on any information or guidance I provide to you as an alternative to medical advice from your doctor or healthcare provider and I expressly exclude all responsibility, and shall have no liability, for any damages, loss, or injury suffered by you or any third party as a result of your participation in our classes or your reliance on any information or guidance I provide to you, except where I have failed to use reasonable care or skill.

If you have any specific questions or concerns about any medical matter, you should consult your doctor or healthcare provider as soon as possible. If you think you may be suffering from any medical condition, you should seek immediate medical attention from your healthcare provider. Do not delay seeking medical advice, disregard medical advice or discontinue medical treatment because of information or guidance I provide to you.

You acknowledge that any form of exercise contains a degree of risk. It is recommended that you check with your GP or healthcare provider before you start any new exercise programme. In particular, if you have an underlying health condition, chronic injury or if you are (or might be) pregnant you acknowledge that this has its own inherent risks and by taking part in our session you confirm that you have been given permission by your GP or other healthcare provider to participate in ballet and stretching classes and you do not know of any reason why you should not take part in our classes.

Nothing in our ballet classes should cause you to experience any pain although, like with all exercise you will at times experience moderate discomfort or fatigue in the muscles that are being worked. If you experience pain at any point during class you should stop dancing immediately.

Classes are tailored to the level listed and it is your responsibility to listen to your body and not to push it beyond its limits. Please ensure you are taking part in a class which suits your current ability and if you do decide to take part in a class which is considered above your current ability, you do so at your own risk and understand that my instruction of exercises may differ from other classes to align with the level listed.

Any personal instructions provided during a online group class is intended to support your experience.

By reading this page you confirm you have understood and are in accordance with all of the above. Please email me with any questions you may have as well as to receive more information.

I look forward to seeing you in class!
